WE’RE MOVING

The Neighborhood Development Center is moving from its current location on Gish Road to Kirk Community Center, 1601 Foxworthy Avenue, San José, CA 95118.  Our office will be closed on September 29 while we move and will re-open at our new location on Monday, October 3, 2005.  The NDC is open for business from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and by appointment. At this time, we do not have our new number, but our current number will have forwarding information.  Please come by and visit us at our new home!  [TOP]

Conflicts Can Be Resolved – Part II

Esta clase proporciona las bases para reuniones efectivas.  Temas incluyen: manejo del tiempo, agendas, como incluir a todas las personas, manejo de participantes que presenta un reto y asegurándose que las reuniones sean valiosas para los presentes.  Los participantes aprenderán a crear una agenda, a involucrar a todos los presentes en la reunión, como manejar personas difíciles y mantener un enfoque en los resultados de la reunión.  ¡También aprenderá a DIVERTIRSE en sus reuniones!

 

Planificación de Eventos Especiales

La planificación de eventos organizados es la clave para el éxito del evento.  Este taller le mostrará los pasos necesarios para planear su evento desde el principio hasta el final. Los participantes obtendrán los conocimientos básicos para informar al público, para reclutar voluntarios, crear un plan de acción de 3 meses, presupuesto, donaciones, organización, limpieza y evaluación de su evento.

Daffodil Days

The Office of San Jose Beautiful is offering FREE daffodil bulbs to community groups, schools, youth centers, scout troops and park beautification volunteers, etc, to plant in public areas.   Bulbs are reserved at a maximum of 250 per organization and must be picked up by one of your volunteers.  To learn more, visit http://www.sjbeautiful.org/.  To reserve your bulbs, call the NDC at 392-6771 no later than October 14.

RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

The NDC will continue to have the following resources available for use by your neighborhood association at our new location:

  • High-Speed Gestetner copy machine
  • Computer Labs with internet-ready computers, printers, scanner (NDC on Gish Road and at the Mexican Heritage Plaza)
  • Library with resource books on grants, organizing, volunteers, leadership, etc…
  • Meeting Rooms (NDC on Gish Road and at the Mexican Heritage Plaza)

NDC’s MOBILE ACADEMY

Interested in attending the trainings the NDC has to offer?  How about hosting the trainings at a location of your choice?  The NDC can help!  If you have at least 10 people interested in the training, we can work with your group or organization to get the trainings out to you.  Some examples of trainings are: Running a Successful Meeting, Recruiting for your Organization, Volunteer Recruitment, Block Captains, etc.  Please call the NDC for more information.
