Public Hearing – Parkland Dedication and Park Impact Ordinance - Rescheduled to August 16

Due to the length of the June 21 Council Meeting agenda, the PDO/PIO public hearing has been deferred to August 16 to give appropriate time for discussion.  The item will be heard in the City Council Chambers at 801 North First Street at 7:00 p.m. in the evening. The PDO and PIO require that new housing projects either dedicate land for public parks, pay a fee in lieu of dedication, or a combination of the two in order to ensure recreational opportunities for new residents. Among the proposed changes is a revision of the Ordinances to allow for expanded use of the PDO/PIO funds for recreational purposes such as trails as well as adjustments to the current in-lieu fees in line with increases in land value since the last adjustment to the fees was made in 2002. The increase in in-lieu fees would facilitate parkland acquisition and development to serve the residents of newly developing areas. For more information on the PDO/PIO, please contact Dave Mitchell at 408-277-3453.
