Subject: Community Leadership Academy - NDC Training Requirement for CAP Grant
Dear Sean and the Haven Neighborhood Association,
Congratulations on receiving your Community Action and Pride Grant! As part
of the CAP Grant requirements, your group must complete 4 classes through
the Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) over the next year. In past
years, we offered our trainings through the Neighborhood Academy which
consisted of a specific series of classes. As of January 2005, we have
changed to the Community Leadership Academy (CLA) and our classes are now
offered as individual trainings and you are able to pick and choose the
classes you would like to attend. Once any four classes are completed by an
individual, you will receive our CLA Organizing Certificate. Upon
completion of 8 classes, you will receive the "Community Leadership Academy
Certificate" and you are invited to be part of our NDC Alumni Network. As
part of our network, you will be invited to attend other seminars, take part
in experiential projects, and attend our Community Café's.
All classes through the Community Leadership Academy are free of charge and
we encourage you and other members of your organization to attend. Below
are the classes for June. We will be emailing you notices of our upcoming
trainings, as well as our Community Connections quarterly newsletter and our
monthly NDC E-Blast, both containing information and resources for
neighborhood groups. If you do not wish to receive any of the above
information, please let me know and I will remove you from our mailing list.
If you would like to add other members to our database, please send me their
name and email address.
I am also sending you an outline of the services provided by the NDC, all of
which are at no charge to you or your organization. Should you have any
questions regarding the services offered through the NDC, please feel free
to contact me at 392-6771 or any of the NDC staff members. I look forward
to seeing you soon!
In Community Spirit,
