Packages & Bicycle thefts

Subject: FYI: Packages & Bicycle thefts

We've received word that there have been a number of instances
recently on Curie Drive where packages and bikes are being
stolen off the front porch - sometimes in the matter of minutes
after a delivery service has been there.

The UPS driver who has the route has been made aware of the
situation and is "keeping his eye out" for anyone following him
on his route over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, if
you are expecting a package, it would be advisable to a) have the
sender choose "signature only" to leave the package ensuring that
you are home or b) to let the driver know via a note on your door,
that if you are not home, to not leave the package. Also, ensure
that your bikes are placed in the garage or backyard prior to
retreating into your home for any length of time.

If you are a victim of a crime like this, please report it to the
police immediately. Even if the police can't recover your package,
it's the only way they will know to step up patrols to avoid future
incidents. Please pass on information to the neighborhood association
at contact@stfna.org also so we can follow up as well. Take the time
to discuss this matter at your dinner table amongst your family members
- teenagers in the neighborhood talk and word gets around. Perhaps if
the culprits know that we are currently on the "watch" the activity
will cease.

Thanking you in advance for your cooperation.

The board of STFNA and District 2 Office.

"Feinstein's appearance before the Silicon Valley Leadership Group was
her fifth annual "Report from Washington" to the group and she came
bearing a gift for the South Bay. She announced to San Jose Mayor Ron
Gonzales that she had found $2 million in federal money this year for
a new Blossom Hill Road overpass for the area where a toddler was
killed earlier this year. We have finally got the money so we can
proceed with the overpass.
